Invisalign®

Consider Invisalign to get the beautiful straight teeth you've always wanted – without braces. A consultation with your doctor can determine if Invisalign is right for you. Properly aligned teeth have benefits beyond a nice smile. Tooth decay and gum disease are often present in those with crooked teeth because food gets trapped between the teeth and is difficult to remove through normal brushing and flossing.

Straightening your teeth not only will give you a better smile but will give you a better quality of life. There are many options for teeth straightening, but none offers the comfort level, convenience and confidence of Invisalign. As an adult, you probably have wanted straight teeth most of your life but metal or ceramic braces are not an acceptable choice for you.

What is it?

Invisalign removable aligners are made of virtually invisible plastic and fit over your existing teeth. Most people won’t even know you are having your teeth straightened. There are no brackets or wires and no food restrictions. The aligners are custom-made and changed every two weeks in order to gradually move your teeth into the proper position. While you are under treatment, you may remove your aligners for normal brushing and flossing but they should be worn a minimum of 20-22 hours a day.

The first step in the Invisalign process is taking a series of x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth. Those images are sent to Invisalign where a 3-D image is made. From this images, we map out your customized treatment plan and can tell you approximately how long it will take to straighten your teeth. For most adults, the treatment normally lasts about a year.

Why would I want it?

Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor's office getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.

How does it work?

You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to the final position your doctor has prescribed. You'll visit our practice about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time typically lasts nine to 15 months, and the number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both numbers will vary from case to case.

The average cost of Invsalign is the same or less than traditional braces and there are many  advantages:

  • Eat whatever food you want
  • Remove the device when you want
  • Device is virtually invisible
  • Allows you to brush and floss normally
  • Requires fewer office visits

Invisalign is also a great alternative for teens, whose self-image can be negatively affected by a mouthful of metal braces. Invisalign won’t interfere with their social or sports activities and we provide up to six free replacement aligners if they are lost on broken!
